What is the difference between a Part 61 & Part 141 school?
| |
The Federal Aviation Administration gives a flight school a Part 141 certificate to flight schools that have met all the requirements in order utilize their own syllabus to train the students. By obtaining this certification, the flight school is allowed to train students at a more accelerated pace which can reduce time necessary to complete all the pilot ratings.
A Part 61 school also offers flight training but is bound the Federal Regulations which dictates the requirements by which a rating may be obtained. Any Flight School is able to train students under Part 61 however a flight school that carries a Part 141 certificate has taken the effort to get their training program approved. Part 61 does take slightly more flight hours but allows a student more flexibility to train at their own pace.
Since Falcon Aviation Academy is able to train under both, depending on the student's progress, he/she can decide on which program would best fits their specific needs.

Part 61 |

Part 61 |
|
Why follow Part 61 if it requires more hours?
| |
Many schools in the US follow the Part 141 syllabus for their entire training, while this may seem like a shorter and cheaper course, it also restricts what a student can do in a particular lesson. Every individual has his/her unique capabilities and pace at which they can pick up the essential flying skills. The Part 61 course gives a lot more flexibility to both the student and the instructor to experiment and move the program along at a fairly comfortable pace which not putting any undue pressure on the student. Also, the Part 61 course keeps the FUN aspect in an individual's flying.
If however, early in the training the isntructor believes the student can keep up with the rigourous 141 program, he/she can be transferred to that program.
